Why does everyone thing to try and make an octopus/something hybrid.
There are more practical things to try first.

Oh don’t see the octopi short. Having eight limbs is quite handy. Not that this one has eight limbs, but two more limbs won’t hurt.
It’s not the octopus part that’s really bad, just that that is the default semi aquatic monster base.
